We’ve all seen the 8 week programs or 12 week challenges that promise to fix your life and get you the body you want. I’m all for something that lights a fire and gets people motivated, but the truth is, motivation only lasts so long. Most people can do anything for 8-12 weeks. Some not even that long without getting distracted (Vata types, raise your hand).
In my experience, what I usually see happen is people overhaul their entire life in a very short space of time, and when life throws a curve ball – which it often does – they go back to their old ways which leads to disappointment, dissatisfaction and feelings of failure. Relate?

Why 12 months?
Most of us can decide we want to start a new habit and action it pretty quickly. It’s sticking to it that is the hard part. Two or three months isn’t long enough to see the entire picture of what triggers you, causes self sabotage and ultimately failing or not sticking to your goal. 12 months means you can begin to action your plan, and have a support system to help you when things get hard, creating lifelong habits to kicking ass.
